Sunday has traditionally been a day of rest. This Sunday promises to be a day of food comas. First on the agenda is the Boston Bacon Takedown, hitting the Center for Arts at the Armory (191 Highland Avenue, Somerville, 617.718.2191) at 2 p.m. The $15 tickets (available here) get you tastings of 20 bacon-based concoctions from local home cooks, all competing for culinary glory. But save some room for dessert, because at 6 p.m., the Boston Cake Experiment invades the Middle East Downstairs (480 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge, 617.864.3278). Twenty local amateur bakers will bring their cake creations in hopes of winning their way to the national finals. Brooklyn Brewery will bring the beer, and we’ll just bring our appetites (and perhaps our fat pants). Get tickets ($15) here.
