The last time we held a birthday block party, the neighbors didn’t speak to us for weeks. (We thought someone said something about “noise ordinances,” but we couldn’t hear them over the speakers.) That won’t stop us from celebrating the 20th birthday of José McIntyre’s (160 Milk Street, Boston, 617.451.9460) at its annual Block Party on Central Street, right behind the bar. From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., the block will bustle with live music, DJs, and special guests (including a few MTV personalities). Tickets are $10 at eventbrite.com — but if you ante up $20, you’ll also get access to a 5 p.m. pub crawl that incorporates three other local bars. We’ll think of it as an around-the-block party.
